Friday, CB's show with Swinger Eight and The X's will be nuts. We are shooting footage for our video this night so be sure to get up close to get your mug in a piece of The Divide's history.
Later this month we're continuing our battle at Emergenza Festival competition. This will be the 3rd round and will be held at Knitting Factory in NYC so e-mail us for advance tix (much cheaper). Emergenza will have ten bands that made it this far so it's going to be a really good show for those selective about what bands they watch. Come out, support & be loud.
The Divide spent this past weekend with After the Fall and our new friends Broomfiller (Toronto, Canada) in Butler & Apollo PA. One of this weekend's shows was at an event center where we had an international go-kart competition. There were discrepencies with who actually won the races but the employees were all stressed out & irritated by us equally.
Oh, we should thank the slew of good people who offered us their place to crash; Steve ATF, James Orphan, Gene Ozzy & Gene's mom for her crockpot ham and toilet.
03.15.06
Good god, PA we'll be back. God damn, Trash Bar will rattle next Thursday- Jinn Abide, Human Vice Patrol, Shoot the Messenger and your favourite bio shredders, The Divide.
02.22.06
Thanks to all our loyal ones (and a mob of newcomers) we are moving on to the 2nd round of the Emergenza music festival. The Arlene's show that did it for us was great; the room was so loud after we ended, I felt bad for the MC (as you all screamed at/over her). We love our The Divide family of friends and lunatics and wouldn't trade you for the world. Thanks for showing your support and we can't wait to do it again in Manhattan's west; At Paul Colby's Bitter End next month.
02.07.05
Listen to the whole album free, online here. Thanks to everyone that helped make the release shows of this record a success. We've got a few more NY area shows before hitting the road in April... be sure to check them out while you can.
We have tickets for the Emergenza battle at Arlene's (Feb 17th). Shoot us an e-mail and we'll send you one- they're 10 bucks in advance. If you come to this show make sure you're good and loud for your favourite rock band, tD as the audience picks who moves on to the next round.
12.29.05
CBGB's is still kicking mightily. This was evident last night when the house rocked with Strange Attractors (good folks), Swinger Eight (also good folks), and The Divide (prima donnas). Loud as hell with sweat and booze, CB's was inspired enough by the fiasco to make this show a coming weekend event. Keep your eyes and ears open for it, likely sometime in April, or sign our e-mail list and we'll keep you posted.
Personal thanks to the hoards who came out last night, we'll have pics on the site soon... Also don't forget to pick up the new Beautiful Disaster EP available at our NYC CD release show at Continental on Jan 12th! a
1.18.05
The record is complete and will be officially released on Jan. 12 in NYC at The Continental (3rd Ave. at St. Mark's). It is called Beautiful Disaster and carries seven The Divide songs that you love hearing live and some you've probably never even heard before. Jon, Bart & I can't wait to hear what you think.
There's a lot of good music out there but there's also a lot of BS. If you find you're not into Beautiful Disaster bring it or send it back and I'll personally give you your money back. We're not looking to rip you off, all we want is our record in the hands of those who feel it.
Beautiful Disaster CD: $7 online / $5 at shows.
10.29.05
We're wrapping up the first record and we are psyched. The Divide fans should love this one. It will be titled "Beautiful Disaster" and will be the home for seven fat analogue tracks. Be the first to check it out by coming to our CD release at Continental mid-December in NYC.
We opened NYC's newest lower east side rock venue, Fat Baby, last night. The room has a really good vibe with all its swank and was completely jammed. Thanks to everyone who came out.
10.2.05
The all-ages show in Maplewood this weekend had a good turnout and was a formidable attempt at helping the victims of the New Orleans floods. Jinn Abide infultrated the heart of jersey with along with us. If you haven't yet, check these guys out... We'll definitely be playing some more shows with these guys. Next show is BK this Thursday and not to be missed!
We're finishing up the last set of vocals for the EP and you'll have to check here or MySpace to catch the CD release. We'll release it fast and hit the road soon after to support it so be sure to come out for the party when The Divide hits your town.
9.24.05We played a few shows since last time. Danbury with Jinn Abide was amazing, thanks the Jinn and Shoot the Messenger guys (two bands that get The Divide's smashed amp of approval). We'll all be hooking up shows in the future so check that out for a night of chaos.
Last night we did the SoulPusher party at Delancey. The place was packed and sweaty. Sucks if you missed it but great if you were there. Some of you are probably still out cold from the open vodka bar debachery.
We put a show together for Steve Blush and E13's night at Trash Bar in BK. Check this one out b/c we're going all out on vibe. Please don't miss Devia (8:30pm- freakin early but perfect for the open bar til 10), it's rare to catch them live and if you're into us you'll def like these guys.
See you at the next show or say what's up on MySpace.
9.11.05
Check out the our new single "Weak End".
7.8.05
We're psyched to be back and playing for all of you. We've taken some time to recoup and it's been absolutely worth all we've done. We had two shows this past week- one on LI and one in Hoboken. Both had an amazing turnout and pix will be up soon. If you were there check them for your mug when they're posted. We should give a shout to Devia (LI show) and Smaller Then Life (NJ show) for spewing rock on the people along with us. We'll see you at Continental this Friday. xoa
6.11.05
Eric and The Divide have gone separate ways and we wish him well in family and music. If you miss him just check out the links page in the future to see what he's been up to.
We've searched in bars, we've searched in clubs, we've search bottles of JD and PBR multi-nationally. We played with bassists from other NYC rock bands and non-bassists from penitentiaries, and with this labor of faith we've discovered Bart.
This man will be the force shaking the ground surrounding the next incarnation of The Divide. We will hit back soon and we will hit back hard. New songs, new blood, new life. xoa.
2.19.05
Hang in there buddy.
2.09.05
Two days later... It took the Smash Up to release their CD to make us play. Awsome for March.
2.07.05
We've been tracking guitars for the record, so... no NYC shows for a while. Suffer.
1.29.05
Don Hills' Rock Candy was cool. We haven't been there in a while so the ride over made for a pleasant road trip. The Situationist International showed us how they get little girls to mosh at their shows and Steve Blush hosted it.
Look for us at Mercury Lounge, NYC in February. We're cutting back shows so if you miss it, you won't see us in a while.
1.17.05
Happy New Year. We're glad we still have fingers, blood in our throats, and the souls that make us use them. We've changed for you. Do you like it?
2.7.04
Greenpoint rocked us last Saturday at Tommy's Tavern. The Bad Mouths opened their big traps but sounded angelic; They really can't help it. And who thinks The Divide is unsigned? High Times magazine I suppose. Check out their write up on The Divide here.
11.29.04
The Mercury Lounge will not let us down. We had an awesome time there last Friday night and for those of you that came down, we were happy to see every one of you. A crew of Albany and LI affliliates supported us and had a classic city rock night to follow. Due to circumstance we missed Damn Near Alchemy which sucks cuz I was looking forward to seeing those guys. If you get a chance, check out Go To Town cuz they rocked. If you're thinking of next weekend, think Brooklyn. We're hitting a new place Saturday night with The Bad Mouths. I suspect Sunday will be a day for recovery.
11.19.04
We've had a few shows since the last update:
Everyone loved the Loft Party in Williamsburg last Saturday. We drank from an endless tub of bud light and enjoyed banging our heads for some old friends. Other rockers included The BadMouths, Apocalypstik , Banana Fish Zero and Monolith. We have a show coming up Saturday, December 4th with the Bad Mouths in Williamsburg/ Greenpoint, so check back for the details. BTW, don't miss our Mercury Lounge show the day after Thanksgiving!
Last night we played Trash Bar with Goro and The Fux and others for Steve Blush and Eric13 presents. I guess it was fabulous. Happy B-day Eric 13. It was your party and you were very much allowed to cry.
On a personal note, I'd like to thank the friends and family that come out of the woodwork when the shit hits the fan. Those that run, I'll see in hell. Have a good day.
10.15.04
CMJ this past Wednesday was cool. I really have nothing else to say about that.
I saw a good show last night- actually I did the FOH mixing (so naturally it sounded "really tinny and thin"- something I tell the band before they go on, if they seem a little nervous), but The Sex Slaves did a number over at Trash Bar in Brooklyn. They're heading to Japan for a two week tour and that's inspiring to us. We'll be setting our sights on completing the full length by the year's end and are psyched to work out the logistics of the US tour and beyond (UK?). If anyone has a hookup on a van or even a minivan definitely drop us a line. Check out our next show this November at the very Trash Bar I'd just mentioned, cuz we're not likely to play again this year.

Wreck Room in Jersey was full of filth last night. We dropped some saliva and urea and left.
At the end of the night Eric mentioned his interest in witnessing a man dressed in a giant cookie costume walk into the Parmalot Resevoir which resides across the street of the club. I share this interest with Eric.
9.15.04
Last night's show at the Mercury Lounge was the only show to date I'd felt completely positive about. Angel 13 might be the most charismatic band I've seen locally. They rocked & we were psyched to be on the bill with those guys. They even stuck around to watch our set...
A lot of people in the trenches say scenes are dead and no one gives a shit anymore. This past show gave me new hope in realizing my own personal dream. There were moments in time last night where everyone in the room was unified- a scene existed last night and we won't stop until it's off life support.
A number of people drove over a hundred miles last night. Some took longass train rides. We notice.
.

It was a good night for many last Thursday at Trash Bar in Williamsburg. It seems Steve Blush and The Sex Slaves' Eric 13 know how to throw a party. The night started w/an hour of open bar binge drinking before we hit the stage (shout to Bob of Aqui for hooking up the soundcheck- which might even be our first), warming up the frosted souls for Apocalypstik. They awed the masses as usual before Banana Fish Zero rocked the night out. Late night antics included performances by Goro and acoustic melodies by John Law of BFZ. Come check out the next Steve Blush/ Eric 13 presents "party with..." The Divide, sometime in November.

It's been a couple of days since our show at Luna. There's something cool about stripping down all the amps and BS. Those of you that came out that early rock! We are loyal to you...

(Thanks to Liz Apocalypstik for the pic). The next show at Trash has open bar. If you don't give a shit about us, come for the free booze and the other bands.
8..6.04
First night back in over 2 months last night at The Continental, NYC. It makes one feel loved, to wake up in the morning with dried blood in the back of the throat... Drag Citizen did their thing and proved that not even a train accident can kill rock n' roll. Next show will be at Luna Lounge- free and gritty. See you there.
7.14.04
We tracked 11 songs this passed weekend. The session was a monster but we have the first phase of our record complete. To those of you who keep asking... Soon. Our souls are going in this so, as the great Todd Lewis tells us, be patient!
7.01.04
We're heading to the studio on the weekend of July 9th. This means we're not going to Jon Law's upstate camp bash (which sucks), but you'll get a lifetime of resentment, all in one record... Our intention is to knock this out too, so don't be surprized if you get an email from us in August about the release date and listening party!
Also...we do hold grudges. The good side to this is that YOU'LL get special attention when it comes to unannounced shows and limited merch and recordings. That means: Keep in touch, bitch! (bullshit@thedividemusic.com).
6.07.04
Holy shit! Lyrics!
6.5.04
So we played w/ Banana Fish Zero on May 14 in NYC. It was great., but we can't seem to ever go on when scheduled...
I know the updates for the site have been slacking a bit and I apologize for that. You don't know what it's like to be really lazy and uninspired... But maybe you do and just lack the motivation to break the compulsion of visiting this site...
So we might play a high school party next week. It sounds inappropriate and fun, so we'll probably do it. Also, we're going to set up shop [ie. a recording studio] out east for a number of days and record the album á la old school, 16 track analogue. This WILL happen in June so look for the record in August/ September, and possibly a single release even earlier (this is why we say we're laying off the shows; really we're just sad)...
I 'll also mention we're going to get a digital camera... Soon... To replace the one we (mayhap, I, for you sticklers,) smashed. This means new photos will resume shortly and there will be more shots than ever of the greatest crowd in rock...
And finally, I might as well plug the HBO movie "Last Days" directed by Gus Van Zandt. Your 3rd favourite The Divide member is a sound guy in a scene in this movie, which delves into the last days of Kurt Cobain's life. I must confess I hadn't had a clue of the movie's subject matter before we were rolling, but it sure does sound peculiar. Either way, I can't deny the honour of hanging w/ Thurston Moore for the day; And keep an eye out for footage of this sonic legend jamming w/ RayRay, probably only ever available on this site!
4.24.04
"No one wants to hear that stuff! You should have warned me before doing that!!"
-Dennis, Augies CEO
"Thanks for everything. Here's a CD."
-Alex, The Divide
We played Augies upstate last night and were kicked off the stage after the first song (by the owner, personally). You'd think we were the goddamn Sex Pistols in Mississippi. What is it that old men hate about us? They kill me. They really do... That's 2 for 2 in the 'burbs.
4.22.04
We're working on a 3rd MP3 and we'll have our first batch of shirts available soon. Pick up one of the first ones- they'll be quickly discontinued and in some cases we're making one-of-a-kinders for the die-hards. We love ya so much we're putting our blood in your music and our sweat in your clothes!
3.30.04
Yes, we have another show coming up on LI! Why would we venture into the realm of disco balls, bar fights and Golden Tee?! We're spreading the disease.
3.26.04
Our dear friend Olga will be in for brain surgery on April 15th & 16th. We're thinking of her and her long time boy-friend Prince Hal.
3.16.04
Our first 2 day bender! The Continental show on the 12th was cool. Something wasn't quite right about the vibe though, I'm just not sure what it was... After loading in we saw some eye-candy on stage (one butterface and one butterass) only to be bumped from behind by the giant Howard Stern! But cooler than that was that no one there mobbed him (I feel embarrassed when that shit happens. If you live in NYC or hang here, get over that psycho shit!).
Next was our trek out to Long Island with Apocalypstik to play McImnotgonnaplugit. The owner's a moron. 81 people in his piece of shit 4-week-old place and he threatened not to pay up since we didn't play any Creedence Clearwater covers. This guy knew he was getting NYC rock bands but was confused when we didn't play Freebird after our set was up? Since they wanted music til 3am, we gave it to them. Random people went up for a free jam and it turned out to be pretty fun(ny) (Dakes, you rocked the house a la Sabbath!! I think you blew the speakers!). We got drunk, made a lot of noise on the mics and skipped the tab since wet-ears shorted us $100.
Basically we had an awesome time despite the bullshit and had a big slumber party at RayRay's in Rocky Point with the lovelies from Apocalypstik. Check out Amanda's diary entry about it. Thanks to Ray, Rachel and Cole, Apocalypstik, Dean (for the cab) and all you freaks that actually came out there to see us.
PS We'll have pictures soon for this one; Including the one of Lassé in his stretched out underpants.
2.19.04
Ah, the Continental show. Many of NYC rock's finest were in the house. Fiction Plane, Apocalypstik, Blackites, Aphrodisiac and Devia were all there playing the "crowd" role for a change; nice to see them all there. I just wish we'd get more pics of everyone else (next time we'll bring our own camera)! Yes, the set was cut short one song, but what do you expect for a free show!! Besides, my throat needs some healing from that hell cold. It bleeds only so much before it gives, so suck it up and catch the new ones at our next show for a measly five bucks!
2.15.04
Check out the new MP3. "When He's Done" might be our loudest song to date.
