Alex Theoret / Throat & Distortion

A. Theoret is a North American lost boy. Uprooted from Canada he faced adolescence on the outside of the circle in New York. Chained in the attic and raised on a diet of rock n' roll, Alex learned to shred on a ruby red Ibanez while his peers collected Rush albums and learned to play Norwegian Wood on their Kramers.

Coming of age in the '90's, Alex began writing rock of his own. The influences of the era are still evident in the progressions that combine with his lyrics to produce a sound that is at once sardonic and "emotionally accessible" (as Frank Zappa condescended in the liner for Freak Out!). For the past decade Alex has appeared up and down the east coast in various rock avatars . Although he spends a portion of his time as an honorary member of the Junkyard Gang, salvaging trashed FX peddles and equipment, Alex is now a music producer/ engineer, developing a variety of artists through his company
Threatened Productions. He has long since recognized that the spice of life is in the Rizzak sauce.
